Andy Kimmins - Furniture Maker

I trained at Buckinghamshire college of Brunel University, where I completed a 3 year degree in 'Furniture Design and Craftsmanship.'

I graduated in 1994 and after briefly working for an interior designer, I decided to become self employed and have been ever since.

I am proud to say that the majority of my work comes from word of mouth recommendations. Many of my clients come back to me when they move house or if they want to add or update their storage facilities room by room over a period of time.

Although there is still the passion to work in solid wood, the market hasn't taken me down that route. Nearly all the fitted furniture I make and fit is MDF and over the years I have perfected the hand painted finish. Of course, there is always the option for you to paint the furniture yourself, but this is very different to painting walls and a faultless finish takes many years to perfect.

The majority of my work falls into the subjects shown on my website: Wardrobes, Alcove Units, Shelving and Study Furniture and Radiator Covers. However, I have also undertaken various free standing pieces including: Chest of drawers and bedside table to match wardrobes, tv cabinets, child's bed with storage incorporated, playroom storage, butchers block, wall hung bathroom cabinets and replacement kitchen doors.

I still enjoy the challenge of every new job as each one is unique.

I look forward to meeting you and discussing your needs.
